make an impact at your

school

Make the commitment to Reach Out, Check In and Make Contact with one another this school year.

The Shoulder Check is a simple but powerful commitment to Reach Out, Check In, and Make Contact.

It can be as subtle as a hand on a shoulder—just enough to let someone know you’re there. Because the truth is, we don’t always know who needs support, but we all have support to give.

There’s no right or wrong way to do a Shoulder Check. It’s about choosing awareness, practicing empathy, and actively showing up for the people around us. Like anything else that matters, it’s a habit we can all get better at—together. get inspired below!

start with everyone

Asking for help is hard. SHOULDER CHECK is all about how we can make it easier. Asking for help takes vulnerability. Shoulder Check is givingeveryone a role in creating space for that vulnerability.

And that means learning how to do it (or maybe just reminding ourselves what we already know). That’s what the Shoulder Check presentation is for.

Download it HERE and share it with your school community to get it started. Or if you would like us to come present to your school, reach out to us HERE and let’s set it up!

start a club

Reach Out, Check In and Make Contact. That’s our call to action. Shoulder Check clubs make it their mission to teach other teams and clubs how to make it a part of their group’s culture while also holding space for simple conversation and interaction – a place to simply ask “How are you doing?”

start with your own idea

Middle Schools have created their own kindness exchanges. High School AV Clubs have made their own Shoulder Check videos. Sports teams have made “Reach Out, Check In, Make Contact” a rallying cry.

Schools have made installations out of our Check In cards. Athletic conferences have integrated the Shoulder Check into their code of conduct. Every idea is a great idea and what works for one school or community might be different for another.

What would work for your school?
